Ravi Karunanayake claims extremists exaggerating Sri Lanka’s issues at Geneva

September 2, 2025

Former UNP Deputy Leader MP Ravi Karunanayake has alleged that extremists are taking Sri Lanka’s problems to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, exaggerating minor shortcomings while ignoring the country’s overall progress.

Speaking to the media, Karunanayake said that both majority and minority communities in Sri Lanka are currently living in peace and harmony. He emphasized that the country should project this positive image to the world and act transparently in addressing concerns.

The MP also warned that such allegations could bring international pressure on Sri Lanka, underscoring the need for open communication and proper representation of the country’s achievements.
