President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to address the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 24.
According to the revised list of speakers released by the UN, the President will deliver his statement during the afternoon session of the assembly, which runs from September 23 to 29. This will be his first address to the General Assembly as Sri Lanka’s head of state.
He is expected to highlight Sri Lanka’s reform agenda, economic revival efforts, and the government’s stance on global issues including climate action, sustainable development, and international cooperation.
The 2025 session will also feature statements from world leaders including those from the United States, China, India, and Brazil, under the theme set by the UN General Assembly President.
