Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP) and Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake stated that Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe should personally respond to the allegations made against him regarding his assets.
Karunanayake stressed that outside parties should refrain from making comments until Samarasinghe provides answers and the truth is established. He also noted that politicians, like all individuals, have a private life that deserves respect.
Drawing from his own experiences, Karunanayake said he would not make any judgments on Samarasinghe until facts are proven. He emphasized that such conduct is not part of his political culture or policy, and that it is neither his wish nor expectation to see another individual endure the same hardships he once faced.
