Former Sri Lankan batting great Kumar Sangakkara will take over as head coach of Rajasthan Royals following the departure of Rahul Dravid, according to ESPNcricinfo.
Sangakkara, who has been serving as the franchise’s Director of Cricket since 2021, is expected to step into the role ahead of the 2026 season and has already begun preparations.
During his tenure as Director of Cricket, Sangakkara guided the Sanju Samson-led side to the playoffs twice in four seasons, helping establish Rajasthan Royals as a consistent contender in the Indian Premier League.
