Forty-six Inspectors of Police and Chief Inspectors of Police have been promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police.
Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala announced that 34 Senior Superintendents of Police have also been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police. In addition, two Deputy Inspectors General have been promoted to the rank of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police.
The minister further stated that the process of promoting 5,000 police constables to the rank of Chief Inspector of Police has commenced.
He noted that these promotions, which had been pending for the past five years, will be implemented within this year
