The Department of Meteorology says that atmospheric conditions are favorable for the development of thunderstorms in the evening, and the public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damage from heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning.
According to the Department, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces after 1.00 p.m.
Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North Central, Uva, and Eastern Provinces, it added.
In addition, morning showers may occur in parts of the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Puttalam, Jaffna, and Mannar Districts.
