Lanka Metro Transit (Pvt) Ltd. has officially commenced administrative operations, marking the establishment of a new entity dedicated to strengthening Sri Lanka’s urban public transport system.
Created as an urban transport service provider, Lanka Metro Transit aims to streamline and modernize public transport in major cities through integrated and multi-modal transport solutions designed to improve efficiency, connectivity, and commuter experience.
According to company officials, the necessary infrastructure and operational frameworks have been finalized, and the company is expected to launch its transport operations by the middle of next year.
The initiative is seen as a significant step toward developing a sustainable and efficient urban mobility network to reduce traffic congestion and promote environmentally friendly transportation options.
