The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has imposed fines exceeding Rs. 25 million on vendors who sold bottled drinking water at inflated prices.
The fines were collected following raids conducted over a six-month period, from April 1 to September 30. During this time, a total of 306 operations were carried out nationwide, with the highest number taking place in the Colombo District.
The CAA emphasized that such inspections will continue uninterrupted in the future to ensure consumer protection.
