Parliament to Undergo Three-Day Security Inspection Ahead of 2026 Budget Speech

A special security inspection will be conducted at the Parliament complex over three days in November in preparation for the 2026 Budget speech, Speaker of the House Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne informed Parliament today (23).

The inspection is scheduled for November 4, 6, and 7, covering the entire Parliament building, including the Members’ lounge and wardrobes.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is set to deliver the 2026 Budget speech on November 7. On that day, the high-security areas within the Parliament building will also undergo a detailed security check. The public gallery will be restricted to invited guests only, and invitation cards will be issued by the Ministry of Finance.

Members of Parliament have been advised to arrive with their drivers, as special security arrangements will be in place. Additionally, the parliamentary car park will be closed, and vehicles will be redirected to alternative parking facilities.
