Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, stated that current government representatives facing scrutiny over their assets and liabilities should take the opportunity to explain to the public how their wealth was acquired.
Speaking to the media, he emphasized that these officials should refrain from accusing other parties regarding the matter.
MP Karunanayake added that if the individuals under question assert that their assets were acquired legally, they should also act fairly toward others and their rightful assets.
He pointed out that, like anyone else, citizens have the right to increase their wealth legally. While the UNP is prepared to acknowledge this, he noted that other parties do not share the same perspective.
