Sri Lanka’s Lahiru Achintha delivered an exceptional performance at the Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain, winning the gold medal in the Boys’ 1500m event on Thursday.
Achintha clinched first place with a personal best time of 3 minutes and 57.42 seconds.
Luhiu Sha of China and Ho Chun Au of Hong Kong claimed the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Meanwhile, in the Girls’ 1500m event, Sri Lanka’s Nethmi Gimhani added to the country’s medal tally by securing bronze, finishing with a time of 4 minutes and 52.32 seconds.
