A fire broke out in the engine of the ‘Rajarata Rajina’ train bound for Beliatta from Anuradhapura early this morning (25).
The incident occurred shortly before the train’s scheduled departure at 5:00 a.m., causing a delay of more than two hours. The train was subsequently taken back to the Anuradhapura Railway Station, where a replacement engine was installed. The journey resumed at around 7:30 a.m.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
