The Department of Meteorology announced today (13) that showery weather conditions are expected to intensify over the Northern, North-Central, and Eastern provinces in the coming days.
Showers may occur at times in these regions, while showers or thundershowers are likely in other parts of the island after 1.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is possible in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected in certain locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and Uva provinces, and in the Ampara district during the early hours of the morning.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
