The prevailing showery conditions are expected to continue over the next few days, the Department of Meteorology announced.
Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Northern and North-Central provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts.
In the rest of the island, showers or thundershowers are expected after 1.00 p.m. today (23).
According to the Met Department, heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, Northern and Southern provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Meanwhile, fairly heavy showers of around 75 mm may occur in several other areas.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize potential damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
