Five Indian Companies Shortlisted for Sri Lanka’s Unique Digital Identity Project Visit Country

November 24, 2025

Five system operators shortlisted by India’s National Institute for Smart Government (NISG) for Sri Lanka’s Unique Digital Identity (UDI) project arrived in the country last week.

Sanjaya Karunasena, Executive Director and Acting CEO of the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA), said the visit allowed the potential MSIs to meet with their agency and gain a better understanding of the current digital landscape. He added that this will help provide informed advice when selecting a Master System Integrator (MSI) for the UDI project.

The companies—Infosys Ltd, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Protean e-Gov Technologies Ltd, RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, and Bharat Electronics Ltd—have been selected to develop, implement, and maintain the UDI system in Sri Lanka under an Indian grant. They qualified as bidders following the pre-qualification round.

NISG stated that the companies passing the pre-qualification verification are now shortlisted for the next stage: the techno-commercial bidding phase. The travel expenses for their visit to Sri Lanka are being covered by the companies themselves.
