India’s Indigenous Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant Arrives in Colombo

November 26, 2025

The Indian Navy’s indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant arrived at the Colombo Port today, following an invitation from the Sri Lanka Navy to participate in the 2025 International Fleet Review (IFR).

Commissioned in 2022 as India’s first fully indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant is widely regarded as a major symbol of India’s naval capability.

In a statement, the Indian Navy said the visit continues the long-standing tradition of goodwill between India and Sri Lanka and reinforces the mutual trust and cooperation between the two neighbouring maritime partners.

The Sri Lanka Navy is hosting the International Fleet Review as part of its 75th anniversary celebrations.
