Around 400 Indian migrant air passengers stranded for several days at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) due to cyclone-related flight disruptions were safely evacuated to India yesterday (30), airport officials confirmed.
Approximately 150 passengers were flown to New Delhi aboard a C-130 aircraft at 2:30 PM, while another 250 passengers departed for Trivandrum on an IL-76 aircraft at 4:00 PM.
The evacuation followed severe weather conditions that caused widespread disruption to flight operations, leaving hundreds of travelers stranded at the airport. Authorities coordinated closely to ensure the safe repatriation of affected passengers.
