The National Blood Bank has temporarily suspended the admission of blood donors to its Narahenpita centre due to heavy congestion at the site.
Officials stated that it will take until at least 10:00 PM to complete the donation process for those already present. As a result, the public is advised not to visit the Narahenpita centre today.
The suspension follows an urgent appeal made by the National Blood Transfusion Service, which led to a significant surge in donors after a blood shortage was reported yesterday amid the ongoing disaster situation.
The main Narahenpita Blood Bank centre operates daily from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
