India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has intensified its rescue operations across flood-hit regions in Sri Lanka, with teams now active in both Puttalam and Badulla.
Puttalam:
The NDRF team that rescued nearly 50 people in Kochikade since yesterday has now reached Puttalam and begun fresh rescue operations. According to local officials, more than 100 individuals are currently stranded in the area and efforts are underway to bring them to safety.
Badulla:
A second NDRF team has arrived in Badulla and has already commenced rescue operations. The team is working alongside local authorities to reach residents trapped due to severe flooding and landslides.
INS Sukanya Arrives with Additional Relief Supplies
The Indian naval vessel INS Sukanya has reached Sri Lanka carrying additional relief material to support ongoing flood-relief and rescue operations. The supplies are expected to significantly strengthen humanitarian assistance efforts underway across multiple affected districts.
