December 3, 2025

Britain’s King Charles has expressed his condolences to those impacted by the severe natural disasters that have struck South and Southeast Asia, including Sri Lanka.

In a message posted on the royal family’s official social media pages on Monday, King Charles referred to the devastation caused by cyclones and days of torrential rain across the region as “terrible.”

Signed “Charles R,” the king said:
“My wife and I are deeply saddened to learn of the devastation caused by the severe storms across South and Southeast Asia. We can only imagine the scale of the devastation and the pain experienced by all who have had their lives and livelihoods so profoundly affected.”

He added, “These disasters remind us of the increasingly urgent need to restore the balance and harmony of nature.”

The statement concluded with the king offering prayers for “strength and comfort” for communities across India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
