Pakistan Announces Humanitarian Assistance to Sri Lanka Following Cyclone Ditva

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan will extend humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka in response to the severe devastation caused by Cyclone Ditva.

In a message posted on X, Prime Minister Sharif said:
“We are immediately sending the necessary humanitarian assistance to support our Sri Lankan brothers and sisters and will provide whatever assistance we can to help Sri Lanka recover from this calamity.”

The announcement came after a telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Sharif and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday evening (02).

Meanwhile, Pakistan has dispatched 200 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka via sea freight to support ongoing relief efforts, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.

A handover ceremony was held in Islamabad, attended by Pakistan’s Minister of State for Finance, Bilal Azhar Kayani, and Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Retired Rear Admiral Fred Seneviratne.
