Government Translators’ Service Union Meets Prime Minister to Discuss Salary Issues

Officials of the Government Translators’ Service Union met with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at the Prime Minister’s Office to discuss several issues, including salary-related concerns.

According to the Prime Minister’s Media Division, the discussion focused on prevailing salary issues within the Government Translators’ Service, particularly salary disparities between different grades and existing staff vacancies.

The Prime Minister noted that a number of challenges had emerged due to previous governments failing to implement public service salary increases through a systematic and rational framework. She added that discussions to address these salary disparities are currently ongoing.

Dr. Amarasuriya further stated that a positive course of action on the matter is expected to be taken next year.

The meeting was attended by Secretary to the Prime Minister Pradeep Saputhanthri, President of the Government Translators’ Service Union Mujibar Rahman, along with several other officials.
