Indian Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar, who arrived in Sri Lanka last evening (22), is scheduled to meet President Anura Kumara Dissanayake this morning (23).
During his visit, Dr. Jaishankar is also expected to hold discussions with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasooriya and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath.
Dr. Jaishankar arrived in Sri Lanka last night aboard a special aircraft of the Indian Air Force. He is visiting the country as a Special Envoy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit underscores India’s Neighbourhood First policy and takes place in the context of Operation Sagar Bandhu, launched to address the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
The Ministry further noted that Dr. Jaishankar is scheduled to depart Sri Lanka this afternoon upon the conclusion of his visit.
