A total of 597 individuals were arrested on suspicion of involvement in criminal activities, as well as illicit liquor and drug-related offenses, during a special island-wide operation conducted yesterday (24), the Police Media Division said.
During the operation, 29,727 people were subjected to inspection. Police identified 25 individuals directly linked to criminal activities, while 354 suspects with outstanding warrants were also taken into custody.
The operation further resulted in the apprehension of 136 drunk drivers, 36 reckless drivers, and 4,795 individuals who violated various other traffic regulations.
Police emphasized that these island-wide operations aim to target small-, medium-, and large-scale drug traffickers, individuals involved in criminal activities, and those in possession of illegal firearms.
