Fraud Complaints Filed After Sudden Postponement of Ne-Yo Concert

December 27, 2025

Following the sudden postponement of the Ne-Yo concert organized by Brown Boy Presents, scheduled for tomorrow (28), the Kollupitiya Police have received fraud-related complaints against the organizers.

Police said two complaints have been lodged so far, including one from the Cinnamon Grand Hotel over the non-payment of bills. The complaints are to be forwarded to the Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau for further investigations.

Prior to the abrupt cancellation, reports indicated that the organizers had generated a significant income from ticket sales, with prices starting from Rs. 15,000 and above.

The controversy intensified after reports emerged that the Sugathadasa Stadium management had cancelled the venue booking after a cheque issued by the organizers was returned due to insufficient funds.

Despite these financial issues, the organizers are accused of continuing to promote the event and sell tickets through social media platforms until the last moment.

Brown Boy Presents announced the cancellation of the concert citing “unforeseen circumstances” and stated that refunds would be issued via the PickMe app. However, no clear dates or timelines for refunds have been communicated to the public.

Public anger has escalated amid reports that the organizers fled the country following the cancellation, leading to allegations of large-scale fraud.

Police sources said preliminary investigations have revealed that one of the organizers has indeed left the country, and further inquiries are currently underway.
