Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake said that the security forces have been making significant sacrifices amid the disaster situations faced by the country.
He noted that the dedication shown by the police and the tri-services in ensuring civilian safety and managing disaster response efforts deserves recognition and appreciation. According to the MP, the importance of their service to the nation becomes especially evident during such challenging times.
Ravi Karunanayake also urged the government not to reduce the privileges granted to the families of tri-services personnel. Referring to recent media reports suggesting that such measures are being considered, he stressed that the government should give urgent attention to the issue.
He further emphasized that the commitment and service rendered by members of the security forces, who continue to serve the country under difficult conditions, must be properly acknowledged and valued.
