Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake said that Sri Lanka has received insufficient foreign aid relative to the scale of the disasters it has faced.
Speaking at a media briefing, he noted that the sixth installment from the International Monetary Fund was scheduled to be received in December. He emphasized that receiving assistance through structured installments is more beneficial for the country than relying on emergency loans.
Ravi Karunanayake also stressed that Sri Lanka should approach negotiations with the IMF confidently, without compromising the country’s dignity. He added that even when seeking the Fund’s support, the nation must maintain a firm and self-respecting stance.
