The Meteorology Department has warned that a low-level atmospheric disturbance east of Sri Lanka will bring continued showery conditions to the Eastern, Northern, and Uva Provinces over the coming days.
Showers are also expected at times in the Central, North-Central, and Uva Provinces, as well as in the Hambantota District. Some areas in the Eastern and Uva Provinces, along with Matale, Nuwara Eliya, and Polonnaruwa Districts, may receive fairly heavy rainfall of up to 75 mm.
The Northern Province is likely to experience several spells of showers, while showers or thundershowers may occur in other parts of the country after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of 30–40 kmph are expected at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces, and in the Trincomalee, Hambantota, and Monaragala Districts.
Misty conditions are likely in the early morning in some parts of the Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara Districts.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions against localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
