A Gazette notification has been issued for the Bill seeking to abolish the pensions of Members of Parliament. Following the Gazette, the Bill is scheduled to be presented to Parliament for approval.
The proposed legislation will be titled the Parliamentary Pensions Abolition Act, No. 2025. Once enacted, it will repeal the Parliamentary Pensions Act No. 1 of 1977 of the National Council of State.
