January 15, 2026

Sri Lanka has been ranked 93rd out of 101 countries in the Henley Passport Index 2026, with its passport granting access to 39 countries without a prior visa. Last year, Sri Lanka ranked 96th, with access to 44 countries. Only 11 countries rank below Sri Lanka in the index.

Top Rankings:

  • Singapore retained the top spot for the third consecutive year, with access to 192 countries.

  • Japan and South Korea ranked second.

  • Denmark and Luxembourg shared third place, with access to 188 and 186 countries respectively.

At the bottom, Afghanistan ranked 101st, with access to just 24 countries, consistently occupying the lowest position on the index.

Despite the drop, the Sri Lankan passport still ranks above fellow SAARC nations Nepal, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

The Henley Passport Index ranks passports worldwide based on the number of destinations holders can enter without a prior visa.
