The Ministry of Education has decided to provide the textbooks used by last year’s Grade Six students to this year’s Grade Six batch as well.
This decision follows the move to continue with the existing syllabus for Grade Six students this year.
Although new education reforms for Grade Six were due to be introduced in 2026, the government has postponed their implementation until 2027, citing continuous objections raised by various parties, including the opposition.
Responding to queries, Secretary to the Ministry of Education Nalaka Kaluwewa said that steps are currently being taken to print the required workbooks for Grade Six students.
