The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has warned that its ongoing trade union action will be intensified within 48 hours if a constructive intervention is not made to address the issues faced by doctors.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the GMOA Central Committee held today (28), during which full authority was granted to the Executive Committee to determine future course of action.
Among several decisions reached at the meeting, the union resolved to continue the current trade union action without interruption.
“We are giving the Health Minister 48 hours to intervene. We wish to clearly state that the Health Minister should not later claim that the GMOA was not given sufficient time or that we resorted to trade union action suddenly,” GMOA Assistant Secretary Dr. Hansamal Weerasuriya said.
