Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake says that no political force in the history of the country has ever succeeded by dividing itself.
He expressed these views in an interview with the website ceylonwire.lk.
The MP noted that both the UNP and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya have recognized this reality.
He added that smaller parties also share the view that the UNP and the SJB should come together in unity.
Ravi Karunanayake further said that he is prepared to personally contribute to efforts to unite the two parties.
He pointed out that while some individuals tried to obstruct the process, a large number of people worked together to ensure its success.
