The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) says fuel will be issued to all ambulances under a special priority category.
CPC Director General Dr. Mayura Neththikumarage stated that under this system, ambulances will be able to obtain fuel from both CPC depots and filling stations.
The nationwide QR-based fuel distribution system came into effect yesterday at 6:00 a.m.
Under the QR system, the amount of fuel that each individual can obtain has been limited to a fixed weekly quota.
Accordingly, the weekly fuel allocations are as follows: motorcycles – 5 litres, cars and three-wheelers – 15 litres, vans and special purpose vehicles – 40 litres, lorries – 200 litres and buses – 60 litres.
Authorities said individuals previously registered under the QR system can continue using their existing registration through the website fuelpass.gov.lk, provided there are no changes to vehicle ownership or the registered phone number.
However, newly registered vehicles or those with changes in ownership or phone numbers must re-register through the same website.
The Ministry of Digital Economy also stated that for issues related to the system or for further information, the public can contact the Government Information Centre via the 1919 hotline.
