US President Donald Trump has said the United States had no prior knowledge of Israel’s attack on Iran’s South Pars oil field, while warning of a strong response if Iran targets Qatar again.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Israel had “violently lashed out” at a “relatively small section” of the South Pars field “out of anger.”
He added that Iran was unaware of the limited scale of the strike and described its retaliatory attack on Qatar’s LNG facility at Ras Laffan as “unjustifiable and unfair.”
Trump stated that Israel would not carry out further attacks on the South Pars oil field, calling it “extremely important and valuable.”
However, he issued a stark warning that if Iran were to attack Qatar again, the United States would respond with overwhelming force.
He said the US would “massively” strike the field with a level of strength “Iran has never seen or witnessed before.”
At the same time, Trump noted that he does not wish to authorize such a level of destruction due to its long-term implications but emphasized that he would not hesitate to act if Qatar’s LNG infrastructure is targeted again.
