Sri Lanka Post Warns Public of Phishing Scam Targeting Parcel Deliveries

March 29, 2026

Sri Lanka Post has issued a public warning over an ongoing phishing scam in which fraudsters are using fake websites resembling the official Postal Department site to deceive customers.

According to the Postal Department, scammers are sending SMS messages claiming that a fee must be paid to receive a parcel. These messages include fraudulent links that direct users to fake websites, where they are asked to enter debit or credit card details.

Authorities warned that once such information is entered, victims’ bank accounts can be compromised and money may be withdrawn.

The Department stated that several complaints have already been received, noting a recent increase in such incidents. The matter has been reported to the Criminal Investigation Department and other relevant authorities for further investigation.

The public is strongly advised not to click on suspicious links or share sensitive information such as bank card details or one-time passwords (OTP) with unknown or unverified sources.
