An adjournment debate on the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks is scheduled to be held in Parliament this week, following a proposal by the Opposition.
According to the Department of Communication of Parliament, the debate will take place on Thursday (09) from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Parliament is set to convene for three days this week starting tomorrow (07), based on a decision taken at the Committee on Parliamentary Business chaired by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.
On Tuesday, several regulations and bills will be taken up for debate, including those under the Convention Against Doping in Sports Act, Strategic Development Projects Act, and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Act. The Inland Revenue (Amendment) Bill and the Social Security Contribution Levy (Amendment) Bill are also scheduled for Second Reading, subject to any legal challenges.
Parliament will not meet on Wednesday due to the declared public holiday.
On Thursday, discussions will also cover orders under the Army, Navy, and Air Force Acts, along with any proclamations issued under the Public Security Ordinance and the Essential Public Services Act.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Parliament is scheduled to debate a No-Confidence Motion brought by the Opposition against Minister of Energy Kumara Jayakody.
