Cabinet approval has been granted for a bill to establish a National Cyber Security Regulatory Authority, the Ministry of Digital Economy Sri Lanka announced.
Secretary to the Ministry, Waruna Sri Dhanapala, said the ministry is currently working with the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team and the Legal Draftsman’s Department to finalise the legislation.
He noted that the drafting process is expected to be completed within the next two to three months, after which the bill will be presented to Parliament.
The proposed authority is expected to strengthen Sri Lanka’s cyber security framework and enhance regulatory oversight in the digital sector.
