The Ministry of Health Sri Lanka says dengue cases are increasing in several districts, including Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, and Ratnapura.
According to the Dengue Control Unit, 4,617 dengue patients were reported during the month of April alone.
In response to the rise in cases, special dengue prevention and control programmes are currently being carried out in the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts.
Health authorities also confirmed that 12 dengue-related deaths have been reported so far this year.
The Dengue Control Unit further noted that a dengue patient had died in Ratnapura a few days ago, highlighting the continued risk posed by the disease.
Authorities are urging the public to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms such as fever, body aches, or fatigue develop.
