“Buddhist–Muslim Dialogue” Book Launched at BMICH to Promote Interfaith Understanding

The official launch and presentation of original copies of the book “Buddhist–Muslim Dialogue” (බෞද්ධ – මුස්ලිම් සංවාදය) took place at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall on May 12, 2026, under the organization of the Tanweer Institute.

The publication is a collaborative research compilation authored by scholar Dr. Asad Siras and Tripitakacharya Ramesh Madusanka, focusing on fostering mutual understanding, coexistence, and constructive engagement between the Buddhist and Muslim communities in Sri Lanka.

The ceremony was presided over by Ven. Gallelle Sumanasiri Thero, Senior Professor and former Vice-Chancellor of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka.

The Chief Guest at the event was Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddhism, Religious and Cultural Affairs.

Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Ash Sheikh Arkam Nooramith, General Secretary of the All Ceylon Islamic Religious Scholars’ Council (ACJU), and Samantha Ilangakoon, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Peradeniya.

Religious leaders representing multiple faiths, academics, intellectuals, and a large gathering of invited guests also participated in the occasion, which highlighted the importance of dialogue, religious harmony, and peaceful coexistence in a multicultural society.

Speakers at the event emphasized the need for continued scholarly engagement and interfaith communication to strengthen mutual respect and national unity among Sri Lanka’s diverse communities.
