The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Foreign Employment and Tourism Sri Lanka today (18) launched its newly revamped official website together with a Common Website Platform designed for Sri Lanka’s diplomatic missions and posts abroad.
The launch ceremony was held at the Ministry’s Main Conference Hall with the participation of Vijitha Herath, Deputy Ministers, senior ministry officials, representatives of government institutions, technical partner organizations, and Heads of Sri Lankan Missions who joined online.
Addressing the event, Minister Herath stated that the government’s digital transformation efforts are focused not merely on introducing technology, but on improving:
- Efficiency
- Accessibility
- Transparency
- Accountability in public service delivery
According to the Minister, the new platform is expected to strengthen Sri Lanka’s digital engagement with:
- Citizens
- Overseas Sri Lankan communities
- Foreign partners
- Investors
- Tourists
- The wider international community
Under the first phase of the Common Website Platform project, seven overseas missions have already been integrated into the unified system:
- Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bucharest
- High Commission of Sri Lanka in Malé
- High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi
- Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia
- High Commission of Sri Lanka in Wellington
- Embassy of Sri Lanka in The Hague
- Embassy of Sri Lanka in Cairo
The Ministry stated that the system will be expanded in stages with the goal of bringing all Sri Lankan missions abroad onto a standardized digital platform.
The initiative was jointly implemented with support from:
- Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team
- Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka
- Ministry of Digital Economy Sri Lanka
- Frontwalker Pvt Ltd
Officials stated that the new digital platform was developed with emphasis on cybersecurity, reliability, accessibility, and user-friendly design as part of the government’s broader digital transformation agenda.
