Showers are expected at times today (01) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The Department stated that showers or thundershowers may also occur at a few places in the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 1.00 p.m.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of around 30–40 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western and Southern provinces, including the Trincomalee district.
The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
