Several spells of showers are expected today (18) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The Department further stated that showers or thundershowers may occur at several locations in the Uva Province and in the districts of Mullaitivu, Ampara, and Batticaloa after 2.00 p.m.
Meteorologists have advised the public to remain vigilant as localized thundershowers may be accompanied by strong winds and lightning.
The Department of Meteorology has requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimize potential damage caused by temporary localized strong winds, lightning strikes, and other weather-related hazards associated with thundershowers.
Residents in areas prone to adverse weather conditions are encouraged to stay informed through official weather updates and follow safety instructions issued by relevant authorities.
