Several spells of showers are expected today (21) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The Department further stated that showers or thundershowers may occur at several locations in the Uva and Eastern provinces after 2.00 p.m.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces, and in the Trincomalee District.
The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds, lightning, and other weather-related hazards associated with thundershowers.
Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to remain vigilant and stay updated with weather forecasts and advisories issued by the relevant authorities.
