Showers are expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The Department further stated that showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and in the districts of Ampara and Batticaloa after 2.00 p.m.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces and the Trincomalee District.
The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds, lightning, and other hazards associated with thundershowers.
Residents in areas prone to adverse weather conditions are urged to remain vigilant, stay updated with the latest weather advisories, and follow instructions issued by the relevant authorities to ensure their safety.
