Several spells of showers are expected today (20) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur at a few places in the Ampara and Monaragala districts after 2.00 p.m.
Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail across the rest of the island.
Meanwhile, strong winds of 40–50 km/h are forecast at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, the Northern, North Central, Central and North Western provinces, as well as the Ratnapura, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
