July 22, 2026

A few showers are expected today (22) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Showers or thundershowers may also develop at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces after 2.00 p.m.

Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail across the rest of the island.

Meanwhile, strong winds of 40–50 km/h are forecast at times in the Northern and North Central provinces, as well as the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimise the impact of temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
