Sri Lanka’s headline inflation, measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), increased to 6.5% in June 2026, according to the latest data released by the Department of Census and Statistics.
The NCPI reached 222.3 index points in June, based on the 2021=100 index series.
The latest inflation rate marks an increase from 5.4% recorded in May, indicating that consumer prices continued to rise during the month.
The Department noted that price increases in both food and non-food categories contributed to the higher inflation rate, reflecting continued pressure on household living costs.
