The Ministry of Justice is in the final stages of preparing a proposal to extend the retirement age of judges serving on Sri Lanka’s Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
The proposal is expected to be submitted to the Cabinet for approval on 30 July.
Earlier, during the Cabinet decisions media briefing held on 21 July, Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said the Cabinet had requested a report from the Ministry of Justice regarding the proposed extension of the retirement age for judges.
The proposal is expected to be considered by the Cabinet once the Ministry’s report is submitted.
