Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship Budapest 26 on Sunday (13).
Rumesh Tharanga took the lead in the third round with a throw of 87.11 metres before extending his advantage with a 91.09-metre effort in the final round.
Two-time world champion Anderson Peters finished second with a throw of 86.18 metres.
European champion Julian Weber, who had led after the first round, secured third place with a throw of 85.89 metres.
